Experiencing the COVID-19 outbreak socially: On some recent philosophical contributions

The coronavirus outbreak is currently scrutinised by professional philosophers from different traditions and geographical areas. By focusing on several contributions European academic philosophers, this article assesses whether such philosophical works manifest reproduce, consciously or unconsciously, neocolonial Eurocentric understandings of the Covid-19 pandemic. Particular attention will be given to Agamben’s Žižek’s interpretations show role played in their analysis reductionist regressive constructions social world. I then draw African Africana (Gqola, Asante, More, West Outlaw), set up a theoretical space which experiencing outbreak, as well self-understanding could positively reconceptualised.
